This box would be fine for me if it played MKV over the network. For whatever reason it cannot - this is a known issue. If you want to use the box with movies etc on your USB stick the player is good.

Bought 2 of these boxes a few months back, work great.. Plays just about anything you need, works great with TVersity etc.. for all you guys having problems with MKV over network, install the FW update . MKV playback works 100% properly after the update is installed. I have watched 50+ MKV movies via network and they work great with no problem. http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10185

Bought 2 of these to replace my outdated WDTV Live, interface is alot faster and more appealing to the eye. At the price of 49.99, its like getting 2 WDTV for the price of one.

In the past I used my PS3 as a media player using PS3 media Server on my PC. The only thing I do is watch movies from my computer (hard wired), but occassionally have issues with Cinavera errors. I puchased this media streamer as a low cost alternative.
The packaging is very compact in a cube shape. It comes with av cable, Ethernet cable, batteries for the remote, remote, ac adapter, and the media player. I got this on sale for $49.99 basically work like the Western digital media players but at a lower cost. Subtitles are displayed correctly and in a neat font. Multiple audio can be detected and selected with MKV. Only real con is the remote has some hard to press buttons, but you can use your apple device as a remote over wifi. Shockingly, there is no support for RMVB. Overall this meets all my needs to play my video files on the big screen.
