I've been using free antivirus programs since my primary computer was a Pentium II. The detection rate wasn't perfect, and the free antivirus programs would slow the system down, but it was free... I've heard a lot of ads and recommendations for ESET's NOD32 on the TWiT.tv netcast network, and when I saw a three PC license on sale I jumped on it. I regret waiting this long to upgrade to NOD32. My netbook and Windows XP desktop run significantly faster than they did with AVG or Avast. In the two months I've been using NOD32 I've had a few application or web page warnings, but no contact with viruses yet, but I have full confidence that NOD32 will take care of anything that might threaten my systems. I strongly recommend NOD32.

I've been using this for years and have not found anything better. Highly recommended. Get rid of McAfee/Norton bloatware and see the difference. If you can't justify the $ I would suggest trying the free version of Avast 5.

Compared to the Anti-virus software I was previously using I can't complain about performance. I can now load my system substantially faster and you can't even tell that the application is running in the background.

Defective software, video games or DVDs
