The CyberPower Systems CP1500AVRLCD UPS, designed for mid to high-end computer systems, features dynamic line conditioning and a LCD diagnostic display. Real-time system vitals can be viewed from this display and the unit can be conveniently mounted in a workstation cabinet or directly on the desktop. The CP1500AVRLCD also guards against surges/spikes, and also offers battery backup in the event of brownouts or total power loss. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) ensures that all your electronics are receiving clean power and stabilizes the voltage to a nominal 120VAC. PowerPanel PE (TM) Management Software automatically saves and closes open files and then shuts down the computer system in an intelligent and orderly manner.

I personally prefer APC, but I don't like the power off switch on them... This is a well built sturdy unit, I own the 1350VA model too, had it for a couple years now, still going strong, but my PCs power supply was packing it in, started pulling 900watts, started screaming, so I bought a new PSU and bigger UPS... now it pulls 500Watts playing crisis 3.. go figure... lol I would only buy an APC or CyberPower, have tried others and was sadly disappointed...
Okay, first I just want to say that the UPS does work properly for now. The LCD works great. I like that it isn't on all the time. The software works fine too. It hibernates the computer instead of shutting it down automatically, but I can live with that as I won't be losing power every other day here anyway.
Now, on to the bad stuff. The shipping box was really banged up. I mean REALLY banged up. If I could attach a picture here, I would. It looked like it was thrown around, smashed with a car a few times and then dropped into my hands. I had the UPS guy note it down in case the unit worked. Quite a bit of the styrofoam packaging was broken on the inside of the box. And there was a laptop power adapter packaged in the box with it!! This clearly shows how much attention cyberpower is paying to packaging. Unless this was an NCIX mistake... perhaps it was a floor model that was repackaged and the guy packaging it threw in this odd power adapter that does not belong by mistake... I don't know. There is no point RMA'ing the unit though because it does work great. I even tested it out on battery power and it worked very well. I had the software set to shut down the computer after 5 minutes of running on battery and it did. I have a high power consuming rig here with 2 x GTX 280 in SLI and the UPS handled it just fine.
Overall this UPS does what it is supposed to do. For some reason we have a lot of power outages at our new house. The interface is very user friendly and easy to set up. If you want to protect your hardware this is definitely a good investment. Just wish the battery lasted a bit longer when the computer is actually in use.
While the units, if you receive them in good working order, are good, I could never bring myself to trust them. They were shipped in flimsy cardboard boxes, without so much as styrofoam padding inside. As a result, one of the two units we received was broken, and the other likely got banged around similarly, and therefore can't be trusted.
The not pure sine wave situation is one of those things that is just absolutely rediculous and not Cyberpowers fault at all (or any other UPS provider, even the fuel cell type or propane or whatever.).
