The computer system may automatically shut down when booting the computer after the system monitoring program outputs a warning stating that the CPU fan is rotating slowly. In such a case, fully turn the speed control knob in the clockwise direction before rebooting to disable the ‘CPU Fan Detected’ option in BIOS, or set the CPU fan’s rotational speed to 1,250rpm or lower in the system monitoring program.

The 9700 does have very good cooling performance, but the stock fan doesn't do it justice. It's a lousy fan, about the worst integrated one we've seen from Zalman.

I've been a fan of the Zalman CPU coolers in this series for a long time and have used a number of them in some great gaming builds. This one however turned out to be much louder than the previous Zalman CPU coolers that I've used in the past. I'd buy it again however. It is a FANTASTIC cooler and can handle any kind of overclocking needs thrown at it without issues.

I have owned this HSF for a few years now and I couldn't be happier it works well at both speeds. The fins and copper base is a perfect design, Zalman knows their CPU HSFs. Other than the pain to reapply paste and reinstall I can't complain about this product 5 stars for the CNPS9700 Blue LED

I've had this coller for over 3 years in my computer and have it set at a fairly low setting and can barely hear it, At high speed it does make a good amout of noise.
ive had this cooler for over 3 years now and its been on my AM2 board and now its on my AM3 board, paired with a great thermal paste and you have yourself an amazing cooler. my temps on my AMD955 OC'd to 3.8ghz are around 30degrees idle and about 45degrees on load, and im over due for re-appling paste.
Honestly, this cooler is great, but something is amiss with the quality of mine; the fan isn't in properly or something, and it's gone from a small wobble to something that now makes a very fast clicking noise.
This was a pain to install, but it does work really well. I like the manual fan control, except there isn't much of a difference in temperature, on my cpu, when running the fan at it's lowest or highest rpm, just an increase in noise. I think I'd go with something smaller and easier to install next time.
